What importance does film have in today’s world? Having been around for nearly 125 years, the timeless craft of filmmaking is still very much alive and well in 2019. To help give some insight into filmmaking at NC State, the difference between analog and digital content, and the “words cannot describe” feeling that film can evoke, I sat down with Dr. Sarah Stein. Dr. Stein is an associate professor of communication in NC State’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Stein worked in the film industry for a number of years as a professional film editor, specializing in documentary filmmaking. An award-winning editor, Dr. Stein has been teaching a senior-level film production course at NC State for close to 25 years.

For this interview/podcast, I edited a 25 minute interview to 10:30 using Adobe Audition. Seeing as it was my first attempt at using Audition, and on a larger scale doing any significant audio production editing, I am proud of the way it turned out.
